We have now upgraded are referer system to allow the tracking of upgraded accounts.

This should allow you to see where your upgrades are coming from and compare the perfomace of your advertising.

In the long run this should allow you to target your advertising resulting in more upgrades and greater awareness of your site.

We have also added multiple page display for ease of use, along with a search function to allow simple checking of specific referers.

The added feature to the referer tracking system is a great Ideal. BRAVO!!

I was just to ask is there a way to tell who are upgraded members. Or if that could be added to the system.?

Thanks for your attention is this matter.

Bravo great ideal! This will help me alot with advertising.

Also I would like to know if it would be possible to find out who are upgraded members on the members page?
Gary
The tracking system has been active for just under a week. This means that anyone who upgrades now, and has joined within the last week, will be tracked.

Anyone who joined your site prior to the tracking system and upgrades now, won't be tracked (although you will still see that upgrade but no referral info)

the new referer tracking is very useful.. would it possible to add a column for joins as well as upgrades??

I'm sure that we are already logging this now, so I guess we should be able to add this.

I will mention it to the dev team on Monday.

It looks like we aren't logging the information to report free accounts as well as we should be.
We could activate a report straight away but the script would need to scan through all of the profiles to provide this - This is very inefficient and very resource intensive to run. Instead, we are going to change the join page to log this information alongside the referrers, making the information much quicker to access. I've been told this should be active before the end of the week.

We have now updated the system to allow tracking of profile creations. There is now a "Profiles" column on the referers page to display the number of profiles that have been created via a referal. The number in this column includes the number of upgraded profiles as well as ordinary members.

As this is a new feature any members that have joined before todays date will not show on this page.

As not every referal ends in a profile being created the number shown in the "Clicks" column will be larger then the "Profiles" column. This could be due to existing members using the same referer each time they visit your site.

Any comments on this are appreciated.

excellent it just keeps getting better

how about a photo rating section being added give the members something to keep them on site

it wouldnt take much for diy to add a script in a simple script to start with ph34r.gif

Hmm, I agree with you, rating photos may keep customers within the site for their current session, but won't really give them an incentive to upgrade.

Let’s take some examples,
Let’s say I'm not the most gorgeous person in the world and I get an average rating of 2 - Hmmm, I'm not going to be impressed so I would probably remove the photo and delete my profile.

People with good photos are more likely to be already in contact with others within the site. I can't see how rating them 10 out of 10 is going to change anything.

Then there’s always that person (come on, we've all done it), where you just flick through the photos and put the exact opposite of what the photos should be rated.

We did have a site recently that incorporated their own rating system using our photos, but it had to go as we were getting people asking us how it all worked (when we never knew it existed!) and complaining that the rating on some people’s photos weren't real.

All in all, its not something we will be incorporating into the system.

The new tracking for referrers and upgrades/profiles is great, I realise some of the traffic is returning from before the system was in place, but some things don't add up, if we had 5 upgrades today according to our upgrade page, we set the referrers page to show last 1 day (which i assume is like 24 hours) then it shows 2 upgrades tracked to their referrers, is this because it no longer tracks oscure refferers like yahoo and msn's mail servers which are on ip's only and 2nd level domains, I know you cant track everything!
Gary
Some referrers with certain keywords aren't being logged. This is because the referrer url may include details or session id's that compromise security on other systems.

The referrer page only shows referrals from at least 15 minutes prior to the current time - This is to enforce the above security measures for remote systems.
